L.A. WOMAN by THE DOORS and signed memoir “Set the night on fire” by lead guitarist Robby Krieger

Here you are bidding on two related items: The first is a new and sealed recent reissue of “L.A.WOMAN” in LP record format. The second item is a new and unread first edition of Robby Krieger’s account of his adventurous time with The Doors. Jim Morrison (vocalist) and Ray Manzerak (keyboard player) first met in 1962. They formed “The Doors” in in 1965. Robby Krieger was the guitarist. L.A. WOMAN was the band’s sixth studio album. The best known tracks are “L.A. Woman” and “Riders on the Storm”; the latter being arguably the most recognisable of of all the group’s songs (some might say it is “Light my Fire”). Jim Morrison died just three months after the album was released. Morrison was an iconic figure in the sixties and remains so to this day. His erratic and eccentric stage performances did get him into a bit of trouble but few can deny that he was an enormously gifted vocalist, poet and lyricist. Ray Manzarek’s jazz and blues influenced keyboard playing gave the band their distinctive sound. These guys really did like to push the boundaries in terms of both their music and lifestyle. Jack Kerouac (“On the Road”) was a hero to the Doors’ founder members. Ray Manzarek went so far as to assert that: “If Jack Kerouac hadn’t written ‘On the Road’ then the Doors would not have formed” A first edition copy of “On the Road” appears elsewhere in this auction.
